Busy November of firsts and events

Scarlett's first trip to Chuck E Cheese

November has been an eventful month for us.  Josh's dad got married on the 11th, I'm getting ready to go back to work and school, Scarlett has started teething and trying to sit up by herself, and of course Thanksgiving.
Let's start with the wedding.  The ceremony was scheduled to begin at 5:00, if I remember correctly, so I fed Scarlett around 4:30 to insure she would be happy and not crying during the ceremony.  Moments before 6:00 Josh came up to me and said they wanted Scarlett to walk him down the aisle since they were a bridesmaid short.  So I handed her over and was elated to find a new seat on the second row next to Josh's cousin Chelsea.  Close enough to get her if she got fussy during the ceremony.  She fussed a bit so I took her and she was quiet and happy through the ceremony and in a good mood for most of the reception as well.

Scarlett's first trip to the Aquarium

The next week Scarlett started drooling and blowing spit bubbles.  My mom suggested she may be teething.  At two months I wasn't so sure.  Two weeks later she was crankier than usual and by the end of the day she would fall asleep for a 5-10 minutes and wake up cranky again.  This went on all day.  Her bottom gum was white in the center.  A little Baby Oragel around 11:30 and she slept until 5 am.  Without someone holding or sleeping with her!  (She has never slept that long alone.  So ready or not the teeth are on their way in.  No sign of them surfacing just yet but I'll keep you posted.

Playing in the exersaucer.  Love the face!

Scarlett has also started trying very hard to sit herself up all by herself.  I decided since she likes it to see if she would like sitting in the exersaucer watching the light and music toys.  I took her hand and pushed the buttons and then she started pushing them herself.  This is now one of her favorite playtime toys.  She also got to go to Chuck E Cheese for a birthday party this month, and her very first trip to the aquarium.

Our first Thanksgiving as a family!

Scarlett's first Thanksgiving was a bit more memorable than I had hoped for.  Josh told me we had no water.  I assumed he was only messing with me but found out he wasn't.  The pipe where the water comes into the house had frozen and was sprayin water all overthe drive way.  Josh went out to fix it and the pipe broke completely.... old houses!  We went to my parents' for dinner.  Mid meal Josh's younger brother calmly asked my dad to help him put out the fire on the mantle.  The ceiling fan blew the long candle wick and the flame had ignited my mom's leaf garland and started a fire about a foot high.  Thankfully aside from some fall decor the only damage was to the mantle that now needs a sanding and refinishing.  As if the day wasn't exciting enough, Josh decided we should check out the Black Friday midnight madness at Walmart.  Long story short, Josh doesn't plan to make this a habit.  I tried to warn him about the crazy early shoppers!

Happy Holidays everyone!  Love your guts!!

A Little Mermaid's Tail

Napping after playtime with daddy
These past 7 weeks have flown by far too quickly.  I'm starting to get the hang of taking care of Scarlett and getting myself ready-ish for the day and cleaning a bit more like usual so I'll try to update more often.  We have tons of pics on facebook too.

Cute Halloween outfit from Auntie Kaylynn

Daddy's favorite item in her wardrobe

The first week I was constantly exhausted and these last 6 have left me more in love, surprised, amazed, proud, and wondering how we ever lived without her more and more as the days go by.

Two thumbs way up

Little Miss Naked Mermaid

Scarlett surprised us by rolling over at 3 weeks of age!  Her Aunt, Grandma, Great Grandma, and Uncle were all there to see it.  She does this very easily to the left now when she wants to.  She slept for 4 hours at night when we first brought her home.  This was great for me I thought I had a very good baby.  She started sleeping 6-7 hours at night when she was 5 weeks old.  She really is constantly amazing me.  Josh almost cried when she started smiling and grinning at us all the time around 5 weeks old.  We found out she has difficulty digesting the protein in dairy and soy when she had blood in her poop.  One week later and she only fusses if she's hungry, sleepy, or occasionally gassy.  Even her first cold was very easy.  She slept more and wanted to be snuggled more and didn't like having her nose suctioned out.  She hates having her face washed except at bathtime.  Bathtime is quiet relaxing and cooing.  I'm teaching her to splash but she hasn't emraced it yet.   Her overprotective daddy is still worrying about headbands leaving marks, takes her temperature anytime she is especially fussy, convinced I'm doing something I shouldn't when he finds lint under her nails from clothes and blankies (convinced it has to be dirt),.... He's adorably frustrating at times but still wouldn't trade him for anything.
Her first holiday was Halloween.  She was a little naked mermaid matching her cousin Chloe who is 7 weeks older.  She was shown off at her Grandma's costume party and then again at daddy's work party.  I don't think compliments about how adorable your children are can ever get old.  The poor parents of ugly kids ;) teasing teasing
